About This Piece

This vintage pinwheel quilt deserved another chapter, and I knew just what I wanted to do with it.

I loved the soft mix of pinks, greens, and blues, and the way each piece of patchwork worked together. I chose warm brown leather for the handles, added floral binding in Liberty fabric, and finished the inside with a coordinating striped lining.

The original quilt brings its own history to this tote, while the details I've added give it a new purpose. That's what I love most about working with rescued textiles—honoring what was there before while creating something beautiful and useful for what's ahead.

And because each rescued quilt is different, this is truly the only one of its kind.
